High School Students Experience University Life

High school students from around the country participated in a transformative experience during the 2025 edition of the Católica Porto Teen Academy. Over the course of two intensive weeks, participants were encouraged to explore their vocations and engage with various fields of knowledge in a stimulating, dynamic, and creative university environment.

The 2025 edition offered eight distinct programs organized by different schools of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa in Porto, including the Católica Porto Business School, School of Arts, Porto Faculty of Law, Faculty of Biotechnology, Faculty of Education and Psychology, and the School of Nursing (Porto).

Visits, Simulations, and Workshops Across a Wide Range of Disciplines

During Teen Academy, students participated in hands-on classes, workshops, simulations, and visits to partner institutions, alongside social activities that encouraged teamwork and a passion for learning.

In the field of Law, mock trials and legal debates formed the core of the “Discovering Law” program. Meanwhile, in “Flight to Psychology,” participants examined the roles of psychologists in various contexts.

In “Experiment with Science,” students explored areas such as bioengineering, microbiology, chemistry, computer science, biology, nutrition, and more. The “Nursing Academy: Best Way to Choose a Future” program provided participants with practical clinical simulation experiences and included a visit to Pedro Hispano Hospital – ULS Matosinhos, where they learned about the Hyperbaric Medicine Unit and the VMER emergency response team.

In the Arts, students engaged in immersive experiences through the “Short Film Project,” “Conservation and Restoration Workshop,” and “Sound and Image Studio.”

In the fields of Management and Economics, the “Young Enterprise” program gave each student the opportunity to step into a professional role, collaborate in a multidisciplinary team, and learn how to develop and implement a business idea.

The Católica Porto Teen Academy offers a unique opportunity for students to connect with the university. For many, it was their first exposure to higher education and the professional paths they aspire to pursue.

We’ll be back in 2026!
