FCSE professor honored with European Award for Excellence in Education
Sílvia Caldeira, professor at the Faculty of Health Sciences and Nursing (FCSE), will be honored with the “SIGMA European Award of Nursing Excellence in Education 2026” at a ceremony to be held at the next Sigma European Conference in Kupio, Finland, in June 2026.
Awarded by Sigma Europe, this distinction recognizes the excellence and impact of the professor's educational career, reinforcing her international recognition.
As a professor, Sílvia Caldeira is involved in bachelor's, master's, and doctoral programs. She has been teaching on the bachelor's degree course since 2008 and on the master's and doctoral courses since 2013, with 31 master's and 13 doctoral graduates. Her teaching activity focuses on research methodologies in nursing, advanced nursing, spirituality in health, and taxonomies and classifications.
Since the 2024-2025 academic year, she has been the director of the doctoral program in nursing and a member of the FCSE board.
Founded in 1922, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing is the second largest nursing organization in the world, with over 100,000 active members and 600 chapters in educational institutions and healthcare partners on every continent, including Europe.
