Closing of the FIUC General Assembly

Isabel Capeloa Gil, participated, on 3 August, in the concluding Mass of the General Assembly of the International Federation of Catholic Universities (FIUC) and of the opening of the World Assembly of the International Association of Jesuit Universities (IAJU) in St. Ignatius Church, at Boston College. Also present at this Mass were Cardinal Sean O`Malley as well as the Vice-Rector of the Universidade Católica Potuguesa, José Manuel Pereira de Almeida.

The Assembly closed with a Gala Dinner where the re-elected President, Isabel Capeloa Gil, awarded three Ex Corde Ecclesiae medals. William P. Leahy, President of Boston College, which hosted the General Assembly, the second to Chantal Beauvais, President of the University of Saint Paul (Ottawa) and former Vice-President of the Federation, and the last to Mr. Loïc Roche, responsible for the communication and formation department of the Federation.

Isabel Capeloa Gil also presented, at this Gala, the Sciat Vt Serviat award to the Ukrainian Catholic University (UCU), which was received by Archbishop Borys Gudziak and former member of the FIUC Board of Directors. With this symbolic gesture, the FIUC wanted to renew all its support and solidarity with the UCU colleagues and the Ukrainian people. 

The closing of the Gala Dinner included the speech of the re-elected President who outlined the new mandate of the Board of Directors (2022-2025) and invited all those present to participate in the activities and celebrations that will punctuate the centenary year of the Federation: 2024.
