Católica's Christmas Solidarity Campaign calls for the ‘Joy of Giving’

‘The Joy of Giving’ is the slogan of Universidade Católica Portuguesa's 2024 Christmas Solidarity Campaign, which runs from November 28 to January 8. This initiative brings together the academic community of Lisbon, Porto, Braga and Viseu to support dozens of charitable organisations during the Christmas season.

The campaign again joins the global Giving Tuesday movement which aims to inspire generosity worldwide by promoting one day a year when everyone is invited to take action.

In Lisbon, the academic community will be able to contribute to this initiative through various activities, such as collection campaigns for food and hygiene products, corporate volunteering activities, or the purchase of products at the 3rd Solidarity Christmas Market.

In Porto, the campaign's activities also include collecting goods, creating baskets for families in need, and activities with beneficiaries of APPACDM do Porto—Portuguese Association of Parents and Friends of Mentally Disabled Citizens—and Somos Nós—Association for the Autonomy and Integration of Disabled Young People, such as solidarity bingo and assembling the Christmas tree, among others.

In Braga and Viseu, food, clothes, paper, batteries and small household appliances will be collected, benefiting various associations in these cities.
