Católica celebrates UCP National Day

Under the motto "The University as Protagonist of the Future", the Universidade Católica Portuguesa celebrated its National Day, on February 7.

The celebrations, which took place on the Porto campus of the UCP, marked the inauguration of the new building of the School of Biotechnology (ESB) in Porto. The opening of the new ESB building was attended by His Excellency the President of the Republic, Professor Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, the Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education, Professor Manuel Heitor, the Bishop of Porto, D. Manuel Linda, and the Rector of the UCP, Professor Isabel Capeloa Gil.

The celebration of the UCP National Day also included the attribution of the Honorary Doctorate to Professor Manuela Veloso, world specialist in the areas of Robotics and Artificial Intelligence and director of the J.P. Morgan Chase Artificial Intelligence Research Center, the imposition of the insignias and the handing over of the doctoral letters to the doctors who obtained the degree in 2019 and the attribution of the Gold Medal of the UCP to the Counsellor Judge Maria dos Prazeres Beleza.

The Universidade Católica Portuguesa invites you to celebrate the National Day of UCP. The celebrations will take place on the following Friday, February 7, 2020, at 3:30 p.m., at the Ilídio Pinho Auditorium, in the Porto Regional Centre.

National UCP's Day Celebrations
The National Day of the UCP, this year under the slogan "Science at the Service of the Common Good, celebrated in its solemn session on February 1, was presided over by the great chancellor of the UCP, the Cardinal-Patriarch of Lisbon, D. Manuel Clemente, and was attended by the prefect of the Congregation for Catholic Education, Cardinal Giuseppe Versaldi, praising in his speech the role of Catholic universities in the fulfillment of the mission of the Church.
