Católica and Transform4Europe join forces to debate the relationship between Culture and War

The XIV Lisbon Summer School for the Study of Culture joins forces with Transform4Europe to discuss the relationship between Culture and War. Organised by the Lisbon Consortium of the Faculty of Human Sciences of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, it will take place between June 24 and 29, 2024. This edition will function as the first Transform4Europe Summer School.

Topics under debate include culture and conflict; war and the creation of modernity; the cultural construction of terror/terrorism; rules of war and humanitarian law; media and war, media at war: (mis)communication, (mis)information, and fake news; representations of war; art and artists at war; among several others.

Currently in its 14th edition, this initiative is run by The Lisbon Consortium, a network between the Master’s and Doctoral Degree Programs in Culture Studies at the Faculty of Human Sciences and leading cultural institutions in Lisbon.

The Lisbon Consortium students and researchers from the Research Centre for Communication and Culture have fee waivers. There is also a registration discount for students from other UCP courses, as well as for students from Transform4Europe institutions and the European Summer School in Cultural Studies, or members of the European PhD-Net in Literary and Cultural Studies and the Critical Humanities Network.
