Breakfast@Católica: "There is no profit without sustainability and the opposite is also true"

Johnny El Hachem, CEO of Edmond Rothschild Private Equity and Conceição Lucas, CEO of Maingreen Capital Partners, were the guest speakers of another Breakfast@Católica, "Meet the Global Thought Leaders."

The meeting, which took place on April 3, at the Católica headquarters in Lisbon, brought together former students, professors, CEOs, managers and administrators to listen to the two experts in Finance Sustainability.

"The theme that brings us together today is crucial to the development of our social models and these interventions are very important for us to discover new ways of working in the face of the current turmoil in the financial sector," said the President of Católica, Isabel Capeloa Gil.

To guests, Johhny El Hachem pointed out that "for the 5th consecutive year, private equity was the best-performing asset class in the private sector and continued to outperform most public market equivalents."

Recalling that in the context of inflation, recession and rising interest rates, "it is important to know how to navigate", the speaker highlighted the need to respect key principles such as discipline; diversification; regularity and conviction."

"There is no profit without sustainability and the opposite is also true" concluded Johnny El Hachem.

Following Edmond Rothschild's CEO, Conceição Lucas spoke, with the speaker pointing out that "private equity (PE) is a prime asset class in sustainable financial strategies and an ideal channel for impact investments."

"The Portuguese PE market is one of the least competitive in Europe, has many middle market opportunities and ample scope to add value to businesses," concluded Maingreen Capital Partners' CEO.
