2025: Católica in retrospect

In 2025, Universidade Católica Portuguesa developed initiatives in the areas of academic life, social responsibility, innovation, research and cultural programming.

The awarding of an honorary doctorate to Angela Merkel was part of the University's academic calendar, in a ceremony held in Lisbon with the participation of the university community and institutional representatives.

Reflection on sustainability gained expression with the 1st Sustainability Week, which brought debates and public sessions dedicated to environmental, social and economic issues to the University, involving students, teachers and researchers.

Volunteering remained a focus throughout the year, through projects developed in partnership with external organisations, mobilising students from different areas for social and educational intervention actions.

In the field of innovation and entrepreneurship, the Universidade Católica Portuguesa was recognised as the most entrepreneurial university in Portugal, according to the Redstone University Startup Index 2025, a ranking that assesses the creation of university startups and their connection to the business ecosystem.

The Católica's Christmas Party, held at its headquarters in Lisbon, featured singer Nena. This event was part of the institution's cultural programme and highlighted the participation of the academic community, bringing together teachers, students and staff, and complementing the initiatives developed throughout the year.
