Summit of Democracies ‘Migration: Challenges and Opportunities’

The Institute for Political Studies of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa is organising another edition of the IEP Open Day - Summit of Democracies.
The event, this year dedicated to the theme ‘Migrations: Challenges and Opportunities’, will take place on 29 April, from 10am to 7pm, with the participation of António Vitorino, President of the National Council for Migration and former European Commissioner.
Migration, as a global phenomenon, has moulded societies and challenges democracies to find innovative solutions to issues such as integration, security and sustainability. Faced with migratory crises associated with conflicts, climate change and inequalities, democracy must be able to respond to needs while promoting the values of solidarity, inclusion and human dignity in conjunction with European identity.
