Wednesday, October 29, 2025 - 09:00

UCP | Lisboa - Sede

The International Symposium on Comparative Law: Civil and Canonical, with the theme ‘Church and State: Secularism and Cooperation,’ aims to make a serious and profound contribution to reflection on a central theme for our societies: cooperation between two autonomous and independent entities, such as the Church and the State, for the common good, with respect for religious freedom and other fundamental principles of coexistence in society.

This event is part of the celebrations marking the 20th anniversary of the founding of the Higher Institute of Canon Law of Londrina (Brazil) and the Higher Institute of Canon Law of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, as well as the 20th anniversary of the Concordat between the Portuguese Republic and the Holy See and the 15th anniversary of the Agreements between the Republic of Brazil and the Holy See.

The first session of the Symposium took place in Londrina in May, and the second session will be held in Lisbon from 29 to 30 October.

Participation is free but prior registration is required.

You can also register as a benefactor, contributing with a donation to the organisation of the symposium.
