On November 21 and 22, the Institute for Political Studies welcomes Professor Brandon Silver for an Open Class and Seminars dedicated to the theme Dissidents, dictators, and the defense of democracy.
This Open Class will explore how modern authoritarian regimes seek to consolidate power through new forms of political repression and social control, and how dissidents—activists, journalists, and citizens—play a crucial role in defending freedom and democratic order.
The session will analyze contemporary cases of institutional erosion, leadership cults, and the instrumentalization of the law, as well as strategies for democratic resistance at the national and international levels.
