Biotalk: Advancing One Health through Integrated Microfluidic Technologies for Environmental and Biological Analysis

Friday, January 30, 2026 - 14:00

Sala EBI023 | UCP | Campus do Porto

In this session of Biotalk, to be held on 30 January, at 2:00 pm, Francisca Ferreira will present her research work.

Understanding human and environmental health as interconnected systems is at the core of the One Health approach. Innovative microfluidic technologies offer rapid, cost-effective, and reliable analytical solutions for monitoring these complex interactions. By integrating automated fluid handling with low-cost, field-deployable sensing platforms, microfluidics bridges the gap between laboratory precision and real-world applicability.

Applications span through environmental quality assessment and biomarker monitoring, showing how integrated analytical tools can translate data into actionable insights for health and environmental policy.
