Universidade Católica students fill the streets of Porto for Queima das Fitas Parade

Students from the Universidade Católica Portuguesa took to the streets of Porto for the traditional Queima das Fitas parade — a day of celebration for the entire academic community.

Isabel Braga da Cruz, Pro-Rector of Universidade Católica Portuguesa, extended her congratulations to all students of the institution, wishing them “a truly memorable Queima das Fitas week”.

Wearing top hats and carrying canes, students from the Faculty of Law, Católica Porto Business School, School of Arts, Faculty of Biotechnology, School of Nursing (Porto), Faculty of Education and Psychology and Faculty of Theology paraded through the city, proudly embodying the spirit of celebration and belonging to Universidade Católica.

The 2025 edition of Queima das Fitas runs from 3 to 10 May, featuring a packed programme of events. The week began with the Blessing of the Folders Mass on Avenida dos Aliados, organised by the Student Unions of the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Theology, together with the Porto University Chaplaincy.

Queima das Fitas in Porto is organised by the Porto Academic Federation, with the support of the municipalities of Porto and Matosinhos.
