Associate Institutions

Some autonomous institutions although based far away, such as the University of St. Joseph in Macao, are within the scope of Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP):

The aim of the D. António Ribeiro Foundation is to encourage and develop theological and religious studies, specifically through the Faculty of Theology.

The UCP Academic Society (Sociedade Científica da Universidade Católica Portuguesa) has around 300 Members, Lecturers and Researchers, mainly from Higher Education Institutions. SCUCP's main aim is to encourage culture based on Christian values and scientific research through an interdisciplinary approach that combines diverse areas of knowledge.

The University of St. Joseph was created by UCP and the Diocese of Macao in 1996, under the former name of Instituto Inter-Universitário de Macau. It started its activity with Master's Degrees in Management and Economics, later spreading to other areas, namely educational science and information technology. The students are local and international, mainly from neighbouring Asian countries.
