HIGHLIGHTS:

WORKSHOP IN POLITICAL THEORY (February-May 2010) | Political ideas in Portugal in XIX and XX Centuries / Moral Dimensions of Free Societies

Direction: Prof. João Carlos Espada
Coordination: Samões Orlando, Bruno Alves, Alexandra Martins and Eduarda Dias.

The Workshop in Political Theory takes place on Thursdays, from 1 pm to 2 pm. After a 30 minutes presentation, always of a book previously announced, an open debate follows. Attendance and participation are free. Proposals are also accepted for books and presenters.

The aim of this Workshop is to create a permanent forum of reflection and discussion on topics of Political Theory. In this semester, there will be two themes, which will alternate weekly: "Political ideas in Portugal in XIX and XX Centuries" and "moral dimensions of free societies." In both cases, remarkable books on an intellectual level will be presented, regardless of the historical and political context in which they were produced. The aim is to discuss ideas rather than events or characters.
